Fondtapeten och fondväggen blev återigen en het potatis. En uppsjö med roliga, tokiga och annorlunda tapetmönster och färger tog plats i butikshyllorna och den vanligtvis något försiktiga svensken vågade äntligen ta ut svängarna lite extra.
Kaffe latte var superhett, fast då i form av färgnyans på väggarna. Nittiotalets svampmålade väggar i gult, grönt eller blått målades i kaffe latte. Helst skulle man dock spara en vägg som skulle målas i en matchande men ändå avvikande färg, alternativt tapetseras med en starkt mönstrad tapet. Den kunde också prydas med snygga posters som arrangerades i ett symmetriskt mönster på väggen.
Inredningsböcker som inredningsdetalj
Såväl gamla, slitna lexikon och romaner som snygga, trendiga inredningsböcker blev en vanlig och populär inredningsdetalj. Böckerna behövde egentligen inte vara gamla eller lästa på riktigt, de såldes helt enkelt med en sliten, nästintill antik look i välsorterade inredningsbutiker.
I takt med att inredningsbloggandet fullkomligt exploderade kom också trenden med posters. Välkomponerade tavelväggar med ordspråk, kända designermärken och matchande ramar
blev ett mycket vanligt inslag på Hemnet och posterbutikerna blomstrade som aldrig förr.
Shakerstilen avslutade
Naturmaterial, varma kulörer och mjuka linjer avslutade 2000-talets två första decennier, åtminstone i köket, där mörkblått har fått en framträdande roll. Det är en kulör som anses främja människans kreativitet, vilket går hand i hand med Shakerstilens tre huvudprinciper: enkelhet, ärlighet och funktion. Shakersnickarna var bland annat kända för sina egenhändigt, unikt utformade möbler och hus och var erkänt duktiga hantverkare.
